Alexander Sussmann

Alexander Sussmann is an award winning filmmaker from Berlin, Germany. He holds a Master Degree in Documentary Directing from DocNomads. Growing up in the tranquil countryside of West-Germany, Alexander developed the urge to discover the world. With footsteps in more than 40 countries, he expanded his passion for diverse mindsets, and different social and cultural backgrounds. It was a natural step for him to evolve from an adventurer to a storyteller following the path of a documentary filmmaker. Alexander employs his creative freedom in exploring the diversity of human life. The duality between the beauty of life and the absurdity of societies are constantly revealed in his films. His first short film, Jamaika, was awarded Best Student Documentary by the Portuguese Academy in 2019. In 2021 Alexander took part at the Documentary Campus development workshop and is an alumni of the Cross Culture Program from the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen and is an alumni of the IDFA academy 2022.
