Floris Maria Rijssenbeek is a Dutch director who grew up in the Swiss mountains. Influenced by his background in political philosophy, history and theater, his narrative and socio-critical documentary films challenge the unruly reality we seem to have inhabit. By mixing up perspectives and blend genres, he composes surprising and humorous stories that call for action without a pedantic tone. Floris’ work has been commissioned by the Dutch Fund for the Arts, the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, the Dutch Journalism Fund, the European Union and a variety of cultural institutions across Europe.
