Nela Märki

Nela Märki is a Zurich and Bolzano (Italy) based editor working mainly on creative cinema documentaries. Brought up in different parts of Switzerland and Paris, she studied humanities at the University of Basel and editing at the ZeLIG School for Documentary. She has been working on projects in Austria, Italy, Germany and Switzerland such as the multi-awarded EVERYDAY REBELLION or LAMPEDUSA IN WINTER, winner of the Austrian Film Award for best Documentary 2016. She has been nominated for the Bild-Kunst-Schnittpreis at the Edimotion Festival in Cologne for her editing of THE BUBBLE in 2021. WHY THE F*** AM I SO SAD? (4 FROZEN EMBRYOS) is her first feature-length documentary as a director.
Nela Märki is co-president of the Film Association of South Tyrol (FAS) with its focus on the development and strengthening of the local film industry.
