Julie Lunde Lillesæter

Julie is a filmmaker and photographer based in Oslo, Norway. As the co-founder of the production company Differ Media, she has worked with a wide range of topics such as climate change, women’s rights, sustainability, migration and development. Julie develops independent documentary projects for Differ Media, as well advocacy projects in partnership with NGOs and civil society in Norway and abroad. Within the world of documentary filmmaking, her experience is primarily as a cinematographer, most notably as Director of Photography on the feature documentary Before the Flood (2016) about the Kenyan farmer and climate activist Kisilu Musya. Julie holds a Master’s degree in Media, Communication and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science. 

Project: Vasilica
A short documentary about Vasilica, a young Roma migrant in Oslo. While begging on the street strikes up an unusual friendship with a Norwegian dancer. Through his new friend he is finally able to find more stable work, but will it be enough to provide for his pregnant wife back home?
