Sanne te Pas
Netherlands

My background is in action research. I have worked as a researcher in the Netherlands and in Central America. At research institutions and women's organisations.

After having worked at a feminist organisation in El Salvador, I came back to Holland with the aim to become a documentary maker. Over the past 6 years, I worked hard to achieve this. I combined several courses with my empowerment work at a women's NGO that manages 7 shelters for women who have lived partner violence.

Four years ago, I founded my own production company, Canto Libre Films, named after a freedom song by Victor Jara. I make documentary films and short educational films and promos on social topics: human rights, women's rights, violence against women, empowerment of people with a handicap, psychosis.

In February 2014, I am going to stop my work at the shelter care NGO, to dedicate myself completely to filmmaking and coordinating the new audiovisual programme of the women's advocacy organisation Zijweg.
