Ion Gnatiuc - who participated to ESoDoc 2019 with the project "Electing Miss Santa", and won the "When East Meets West Award" at the final pitching in Vilnius - has been awarded an EAVE scholarship for Producer Workshop 2021 at the Co-production forum held in Trieste at the 2020 edition of When East Meets West.
"Electing Miss Santa" follows a woman from a Moldavian village who struggles to become independent from her mother. Facing a secular tradition that obliges the youngest member of the family to take care of the parents until their death, 42-years old Elena has to overcome the challenge of running for mayor against her family wish.
