Vanessa Del Campo Gatell
Belgium

Vanessa del Campo is a Spanish filmmaker based in Belgium. For her, filmmaking is a way to understand, question and connect with the world and hence, with herself. She believes in the role that filmmaking plays in terms of self-awareness and social engagement.
Vanessa is currently pursuing a PhD in the Arts at the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sound, in Brussels, where she is also coordinates a workshop in participative and inter-creational art. Previously, she completed a Master in Audiovisual Arts at LUCA School of Arts, and she also studied scriptwriting at the EICTV, in Cuba.
Her last short film Mars, Oman was premiered at Visions du Reel, where it received the IDFA Talent Award. It also received “The gaze of the other” Award for Cultural Dialogue at Festival dei Popoli, among others.
As first training, Vanessa is an Aerospace Engineer. Maybe the same curiosity that led her to want to know more about space takes her now to travel the world with her camera.
